August – Hello

Hello August!

July passed by in a blur of school events, sun cream and hugging the only fan in the house so as not to melt in a puddle. Don’t you just love heat waves?

I don’t care what people say about us Brits—We are not weak!—but nothing here is designed with heat in mind, and Yorkshire certainly doesn’t like almost 40°C temperatures. Most of us ditch the “big coat” by 5-7°C, and are considering shorts and sandals once we reach double digits.

Things have been much better over the last week or two, though it looks like we will get another wave just in time for my camping trip. The thought of being in the blazing sun under canvas is not very appealing. I much prefer the idea of rain and the soothing sound of droplets pinging on the roof, though the practicalities with an easily bored 9 year old make the drier option seem much more ideal.

As I write this blog post I am sitting in the garden surrounded by twinkly lights, being serenaded by the Libertines as I sip on a glass of red wine.

We have a local three-day music festival, and I’m lucky to be close enough to the action to hear what is happening throughout the day. Friday’s headliner was Rag ‘N Bone man and he sounded fantastic. I took loads of videos on my phone so I can listen again.

I managed to finish the book I was reading for July (Only a few day’s behind schedule!) so I’ve decided to start Freed by E L James, which has been sitting on my shelves for ages. I’ve earmarked the Throne of Glass series, by Sarah J. Maas, for our trip away, another set that has been clogging up my TBR mountain. Well, hopefully not for too much longer.

The last couple of months have been very trying when it comes to technology. For whatever reason nothing seemed to go my way, which has delayed everything to do with the release of Shadows of the Circus.

I’m having to spend more time than I’d hoped researching and experimenting, which has meant even less time for writing, so I’ve also been quiet on my blog and social media.

All I will say is, the end is in sight and it will definitely be worth it! Stick with me and forgive my silence. I promise that I am working hard behind the scenes.

Take care, Jodie xxx

  1. Whoa, what? It’s almost 40C there? I live in tropical Malaysia and even I don’t see such temps. The world’s ending soon for sure, lol. Wishing you all the best and hoping that you get back to your original groove soon!
